When you delete files on your computer, the files are not permanently gone. If you have an interest in recovering the files that you deleted because maybe they were accidentally deleted or you realized that you had important information on those files, then you need to take some precautions to ensure that the files are safe and the recovery can still be initiated. Your chances of recovery can be severely lowered if you don’t take into account that those files need to remain intact. When you first delete them they are in fact completely in tact but if you continue to use the hard drive or storage device that they were saved on then you could potentially lose them.

Recovering deleted files involves software that can access the deleted files on your storage device. When you first delete a file it is actually marked as “rewritable” but the drive does not remove the file. The space shows up to the user as free space and it appears that the file is gone forever but in reality it is not. Operating systems and storage devices have a security blanket in case of accidental deletion. Unfortunately, the security blanket needs software like REMO that can do advanced Microsoft Office File Recovery, NTFS partition recovery and deleted file recovery operations.

When you first realize that the files you cherished were deleted accidentally you should immediately stop using the drive you stored those files one. If it was your computer hard drive then you will want to download REMO right away. The quicker you use the software the better your chances of recovery. If it wasn’t your main hard drive then take out the drive the files were stored on and do not use it. Download REMO when the time is right for you and attempt the recovery process.
